Tara, with over 21 years of dedicated yoga practice, blends her East Indian and Canadian roots into her teachings. She is trained in traditional Ashtanga Yoga under esteemed teachers Tim Miller, R. Sharath Jois, and R. Saraswathi Jois. She lived 5 years in Mysore, India, seeking pure knowledge at the source. As a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) specializing in trauma, stress, and anxiety, Tara takes a holistic approach to healing. She combines her expertise in yoga (asana, pranayama, pratyahara and dharana practices) with her nutrition and culinary skills while integrating her extensive studies in Vedic chanting, carnatic music, yoga philosophy and Ayurveda. Recognizing the mental blocks yoga teachers often face, Tara designed this mentorship program to create a space for participants to gain both personal and professional growth. Her diverse expertise provides participants with a well-rounded and supportive path on their teaching journey while honouring and respecting tradition.

Dr. Rob

Rob has always been fascinated with the body and mind and has been a dedicated yoga practitioner for overs 25 years. He first practiced the Iyengar method in the UK, before training in India at Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA), as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa in Mysore under BNS Iyengar in 1999, and later with Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois in 2002 and 2003. As a yoga teacher, he realized very early on that he wanted to truly understand what he was asking people to do with their bodies in postures and if he was actually helping or hurting them. This led to him studying at the Australian College of Natural Therapies, learning various aspects of health as well as receiving diplomas in Bodyworks, Remedial Massage and Sports Injury Therapy. From 2003 to 2005 he studied and assisted at Jag Therapy in Mysore, under the renowned Dr Jag. Here he saw first hand how herbs, manual and yoga therapies could be used to treat patients of all ages with a wide variety of health issues. Dr Rob later went on to run his own chiropractic clinic in Mysore India for over 5 years. Since then he has devoted his life to studying the body, teaching and providing natural healthcare around the globe. He has been a chiropractor specialized in the Gonstead method for over 14 years. This method is known for its highly effective approach to correcting spinal and joint issues by focusing on relieving nerve pressure and is closely aligned to the philosophy of yoga. He earned his master’s degree from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in the United Kingdom and continues to study under the guidance of many renowned Chiropractic Doctors, including Dr Ian Rossborough, as well as regularly attending seminars throughout Europe to further refine his expertise and build his research. Dr. Rob’s passion is to help individuals achieve optimal health, alleviate pain, and prevent invasive surgery when possible. He is the founder of ‘More than Anatomy’ . This educational platform is dedicated to help yoga teachers truly understand the science behind asana and help refine and deepen the skills of all yoga teachers. In addition to his study and expertise in Chiropractic and yoga, Dr. Rob has been a devoted pranayama practitioner of OP Tiwari for over 12 years and continues to visit India regularly to learn under his personal guidance. Now, he is excited to partner with his wife, Tara Mitra to take part in offering one of the most uniquely immersive and exclusive Yoga Teacher Mentorship programs. Dr Rob is ready to empower the next generation of yoga teachers who are eager to offer quality practices, honour the legacy of tradition and make a positive impact in today’s world with confidence.
